Zombie Singer

In honor of Halloween, the most zombie-rific time of year, thought I'd toss up a quick drawing done last fall.  You might recognize this little lady from promotional materials for Shout at the Devil - the hair band karaoke night I was hosting in late 2010.

Madam Striga goes to Italy!

well at least my work does... I have a piece in Drawing Connections, a show presented by The Siena Art Institute.  You'll have to wait until November 30 the see the show online, but since it opens today I thought I'd share the image with you fine folks right here in blog world.  Also exhibiting is my sister-from-another-mother, Zabrina Rios, which made this participating all the more fun.

Sketch 45 . Writer

I thought this guy looked like a writer.  Maybe it's the glasses... or maybe my struggle over writing 2 paragraphs this weekend is making everyone look like a writer compared to me!

D1

I said goodbye to Oscar 2 days ago after the tumor in his belly became too much for him to fight. Just under 2 months ago I lost Dorito to complications from Pancreatic cancer. This painting is one of 3 done just after his death, influenced by the things going on in his little body.

Out with the Old, In with the Gray

I rolled up to my studio the other day and much to my surprise I did not find the red door that usually greets me.  The new door, solid gray, does not quite have the charm the old one did, but it opened with such ease I could not complain!  I will miss you red door, until one day, I'm sure very soon, gray door is properly decorated with messages of romance and scribbled genitalia.

Moving On

Most of the past month has been consumed by happenings at home so my artistic endeavors have been minimal. I am excited tho to have found a new studio and just finished packing up my stuff at Hope Street yesterday. I'm looking forward to settling into the new spot! Along with a new space I now have a new studio-mate, Yis Goodwin. If you are anywhere near the Crane Building check out his show "Late Night Snacks" on the first floor.
